Tractor Safety
Tractors are vital tools in many industries, from agriculture to construction and beyond, but these massive machines can be dangerous. We here at Tatum Motor Company want to help you stay safe on the job, so we’ve put together some tractor safety tips, below. To learn more, or to see the tractors we have for sale, contact our stores in Anderson, Missouri, and Tontitown, Arkansas, today!
Your Outfit
Safety starts with you and how you dress on the job. Tractors have a lot of moving parts that can easily grab at loose clothes, untied laces, and dangling hair, and nobody wants that. Try to wear well-fitted clothing and tuck in your shirt, if possible. Make sure your shoes are tied tightly, if they have laces, and that they’re sturdy with non-skid soles either way. If and where necessary, wear safety gear like heavy work gloves and safety glasses or goggles.
Checklist
Before you even turn the tractor on, run through a quick inspection checklist and make sure any other operators do the same. Check the tires, fluids, and controls to make sure everything is in good shape.
General Safety
Make sure to start the tractor in an open or well-ventilated location, and make sure there are no humans or animals too close to the machine. Double check that before you start moving, paying special attention to any blindspots. Never jump off a moving tractor, and never leave a running tractor unattended.
We hope these tips help you stay a bit safer on your tractor! For more information, or to see the tractors we have available, contact us at Tatum Motor Company. We proudly serve the people of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Joplin, Missouri—let us serve you today!
